Best Concert EVER!!

To say that Thursday's Elton John and Billy Joel concert was the best concert ever would be an understatement. The concert began at 7:30 and was not finished until 11:30. You could name any song that either of these legendary artists sing and I could say, "they sang it." Prior to the show we went to Tuttos pasta on State St. which was so wonderful I would go there again in a minute.

Heidi, Kathy, me, and who's the in the back...Diann
Lynn, Nadine and Diann enjoying their meal

The concert started with Elton and Billy "Face to Face" singing many of their hits together. Can you say AWESOME.

Then Elton put on a GREAT solo performance. I would say that he is more of a performer, but my friends would beg to differ.

Then it was Billy's turn to take to solo stage and let me say, that man plays a mean piano.

Finally they ended the night back together with all the classics that only they could sing. It was one of the best nights I have had in a long time and can't thank the Cardio Department enough for including me. The whole evening only cost a $13, but the experience was PRICELESS.

Happy Mothers Day from Heavan

Dear Mr. Hallmark,
I am writing to you from heaven,
and though it must appear
A rather strange idea,
I see everything from here.
I just popped in to visit,
your stores to find a card
A card of love for my mother,
as this day for her is hard.
There must be some mistake I thought,
every card you could imagine
Except I could not find a card,
from a child who lives in heaven.
She is still a mother too,
no matter where I reside
I had to leave, she understands,
but oh the tears she's cried.
I thought that if I wrote you,
that you would come to know
That though I live in heaven now,
I still love my mother so.
She talks with me, and dreams with me;
we still share laughter too,
Memories are our way of speaking now,
would you see what you could do?
My mother carries me in her heart,
her tears she hides from sight.
She writes poems to honor me,
sometimes far into the night
She plants flowers in my garden,
there my living memory dwells
She writes to other grieving parents,
trying to ease their pain as well.
So you see Mr. Hallmark,
though I no longer live on earth
I must find a way,
to remind her of her wondrous worth
She needs to be honored, and remembered too
Just as the children of earth will do.
Thank you Mr. Hallmark,
I know you'll do your best
I have done all I can do;
to you I'll leave the rest.
Find a way to tell her,
how much she means to me
Until I can do it for myself,
when she joins me in eternity.

Going to a Concert!!

Tonight I get the pleasure of going to a really great concert with a really great group of people. Last week the cardiology staff at the clinic where I work was talking about their upcoming trip to the Billy Joel & Elton John concert. When I expressed a desire to go Alexa (one of the "Cardio Girls) offered to give me her ticket so that I could enjoy the show. I could not be more grateful and am SUPER EXCITED to see 2 Icons on stage. Hopefully I will have some pics to share after tonight.

This is my first Not Me Monday post, so I am going to start slow. Here are a few things that I definitely did NOT do over the last few days.

  1. I did not just have baked Doritos and strawberries for dinner.
  2. I did not take 3-4 hour naps both day this weekend and still go to bed at 10pm.
  3. Lastly, I definitely did not drink me weight in milk this weekend, even though I don't like the dairy product.

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

Encouragement

What's on my Heart

I write this today with a heavy heart. This is a two fold problem stemming from my grandma being in the Cardiac ICU awaiting cardioversion and the location that I am working today. This location is filled with women in various stages of their pregnancies, including one due on the same day I was. Though I am very happy for all of them, it is difficult to be surrounded by the constant complaining about symptoms and talk of babies. I know that pregnancy is a less then comfortable experience, but listening to people complain about symptoms that I would give anything to be experiencing is rather difficult and hard to listen to. I pray that when I am in that same situation I will relish the changes, comfortable or not, and feel blessed for the ability to bring a new life into this world.

I hope and pray that today goes by swiftly, good news comes from Holland, and I can focus on what may be happening for us in the future. Thanks for letting me unburden my heart.

From Ikea to Sonic and home again

Sunday started with FREE breakfast at Ikea and some more shopping
Then a surprise stop at Sonic, where I've always wanted to go. See how much I loved my Strawberry Limeade.

Final stop was home sweet home. What a GREAT weekend!!

Moose Mountain Mini Golf

Saturday evening Mike and I went to the 3rd floor of the mall (there are 4) and played a round of Moose Mountain Mini Golf. It was a really fun course and shocker of all shockers, I WON!! Mike may have took it a little easy on me, it being my birthday and all, but it's still a win.

Love the No Cussin' sign, darn those F bombs

I'm sure Mck Mama would be proud of my alliteration in this post.

An Aquarium in a Mall

Shark and Octopus and Turtles Oh My!!!
There is an aquarium under the Mall of America, YES I said under the Mall. This was one of the coolest aquariums I've ever been to, since it included a large array of sharks and a moving walkway. This walkway took you through an enclosed tunnel where the fish/sharks swam around and above you. Here are some photos of the Adventure.

Mall of America Friday

Friday was our first day at the Mall of America. We started the visit by doing some shopping (I know your surprised) and checking out what the mall had to offer. This is a picture of me at the Lego store in the middle of the mall. The entire thing is made out of Legos and has life size people, dinosaurs, and vehicles.

Hungry from all of our shopping, we headed over to the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. for dinner and some fun. On our way there we ran into Louie the shrimp and of course I sensed a photo op. Dinner was super delicious and the restaurant was really fun. I even got to take home a cool light up cup for my birthday.

Mike is trying to get into the action. RUN FORREST RUN!!

I'm 30!!!

Look Who's Pushing Turdy?
OH YEAH...It's ME!!!
This was the card that I recieved from the great girls I work with in Cardiology. It really made me laugh and feel like part of the group...THANKS GIRLS!!!

Now for the BIG EVENT!!!

That's right, Mike and I are spending the weekend in Minnesota!! More to come on that later, but for now did I mention...

Happy Easter

Wishing everyone a Happy Easter.
This is what the Easter Bunny brought to our house this morning.
The basket my Mom bought for me while she was pregnant.
Who knew it would still be in use 30 years later...Thanks Mom!

Shopping Extravaganza 2.0

This weekend was the second annual Schaumburg shopping trip for myself and my best, good friend Leslie. This tradition started last year when Leslie was pregnant with little Owen and his room needed decorating. Friday night we met up at our awesome hotel, Hyatt Place, and hit the nearest TJ Max. Though it was kind of ghetto, we found some great buys and had a great time.

Saturday began with a wonderful and cheap breakfast at Ikea and then a marathon shopping day that would give even the most seasoned shopper sore feet. After Ikea, many outlet stores, lunch at the Cheesecake Factory, and hours at the mall, we finally arrived back at our hotel around 9:30. Boy were we exhausted, but the night was not complete until the traditional reviewing of the purchases.

At the Woodfield Mall, taking a much needed rest of our feet.

The above 2 pics are of great finds from our favorite outlet Home Goods.
Since I am such a Starbucks addict, I LOVED the Cap-Pacino hat knitting kit.
Leslie fell in love with these wooden scissors, but unfortunately they were dull.

Last but certainly not least below is us with our wonderful treasures.
I like to call it the Haul of Fame Photo.
Can't wait till next year!!

What a Relief

I am relieved and happy to tell everyone that my little "nephew" Owen came out of surgery for tubes in his ears wonderfully. I have spent much of the morning worried about him and obsessively checking my friends blog for updates (I know that really surprises those of you that know me). As you can see from this pic, taking a few hours after, he made it through great and is his happy smiley self again. Sending my love little one!!!

Now that we know O is going to be OK his Mom and I can safely embark on Shopping Extravaganza 2.0 tomorrow. This is an annual trip to Schaumburg which started when O was still in utero. Can't wait to shop till I drop!!!

Grief and Fear

Today is a hard day for a few of my bloggy friends and I send my prayers out to MckMama, Angie, and Stacy. Their grief and fear is overwhelming today, but their faith in God prevails.

Also, I am struggling with my own fear and grief today. If you read my post from yesterday you may understand that the loss of our little peanut was brought to forefront of my mind by a ignorant comment that stung like a slap to the face. The fear in my heart comes from Mike and I getting ready to get back on the trying to conceive roller coaster. Now that I know we can become pregnant I don't worry so much about that, but carrying a baby to term is a very real fear. At this point I ask for your prayers not only for our journey, but for healing and peace for my bloggy friends.

Thanks,

AHHHH!!

That title is the only way that I can describe how I feel right now. You see, I just got back from a great and relaxing massage. This was Mike's surprise for the 19th day of Birthday. It was extremely relaxing and I am totally pain free at the moment, Thanks Mike.

One strange thing that happened during the massage was when the therapist asked whether I had any kids, while telling me about her 3 month old son. My new standard response to this question is to tell people that we recently lost our first little one at about 2 months. What came out of her mouth next is something that should go in a book of things to NEVER say to someone who has lost a baby. "Did it die inside you?" I'm sure that she really just didn't understand, but it made me want to cry. For the rest of the 60 minutes I just tried to focus on relaxing and looking forward to trying for another little peanut.

Rent in Chicago

Saturday Mike and I took the train into Chicago to attend the limited 2 week engagement of Rent. The show was AMAZING and we were surprised to find out the two of the cast members from the original Broadway cast and movie were preforming. Adam Pascal, who played Roger, and Anthony Rapp, who played Mark, made the show a once in a lifetime experience. Along with the show we had lunch, did some shopping, and of course got Garrettts popcorn, if you've never tried it, it's a must for any Chicago trip. Here are a few pics, Enjoy.

Yours truly at the Corner Bakery, can you say YUMMY!!
