Storming the South Day 3

We decided to take a low key approach to our first full day in TN. We slept in, got a slow start, and then headed out to explore the Glade. We started out just checking out the resort and found some neat shops and a quaint little restaurant with great food at cheap prices. Then we really ventured out, to the thriving metropolis of Crossville. While there we got some groceries at Wally World (WalMart), browsed in a few shops, and found the most awesomely named coffee drive through in the USA:

Move over Starbucks, the Pony Espresso is trotting into a town near you!

Finally, what trip to small town TN would be complete without a stop at the giant warehouse/outlet mall. In the words of Mike “maybe it’s just a big barn full of old stuff.”

Much to our surprise it actually had some nice stores in it and the  bargain shopper in me was delighted to get a shirt for $5, a fleece for $7, and some other cheap finds.

Upon leaving “the barn outlet” the exciting part of our day really began. We heard on the radio that the area we were in was under a tornado warning. Not cool when you are driving down the highway toward your second story condo unit. However once again we were surprised to find out how fun it could be to spend 45 minutes in an interior bathroom with a flashlight, radio, and a very busy toddler.

What toddler doesn’t want to play in a huge Jacuzzi tub surrounded by mirrors.

Now that the excitement is over we are out of the bathroom enjoying a relaxing evening of TV, dinner, and toy playing.

Tomorrow we head to Knoxville to meet up with a blogger friend MckMama who is on an RV road trip with her family of 7 from MN. She is going to take some photos of our family at a Botanical Garden and Arboretum.
