Storming the South Day 2

Today was all about driving, driving, and more driving. We left Indy at 10am Eastern time and did not arrive at our condo until 5pm Central time. We really only made one get out of the car stop in Louisville Kentucky for about 45 minutes, so that equals out to LOTS of hours in the car.

That stop in Louisville was a lot of fun. Neither Mike or I had ever been there, so it was definitely a new experience. Here are a few things that we saw:

That was one BIG bat

There were also many different art pieces on the street we walked. So interesting:

These penguins were lining the roof of a hotel. Mike talked to the doorman and found out they were bought by the owners in France and they just thought they were fun.

The last thing that we checked out was the outside of the Children’s Science Center. These mirrors were Megan’s favorite.

Who wouldn’t love seeing  lots of little Megan’s

The one exciting, gross, and funny thing happened deep in the Kentucky “sticks”. Our GPS sent us on the scenic route, which included many hills, some mountains, and a countless number of curves.

The exciting part was the views:

The mountains were Beautiful!!

The gross part was that the combo of the elevation, hills, curves, and a cold caused Megan to get sick. Not a fun event in the middle of nowhere.

Last but not least the “funny” part was when our GPS told us we were supposed to arrive at 5:01 and our clock in the car said 5:15. Curious to say the least.

Then the light went on and we realized that when we crossed this line we entered the Central time zone and still had ANOTHER HOUR IN THE CAR!!! Mental head slap.

At least this day had a happy ending as we arrived at the Fairfield Glade Resort where we are now relaxing in a beautiful condo and are excited to start our 7 day stay in the great state of TN.

Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.
